Det er sant at Gud er et mysterium, at vi aldri kan kjenne ham. For Gud er større enn noen eller noe vi kan forestille oss. Da Moses spurte ”hvem er Gud?” eller ”hva er hans navn?” sa Gud: ”Jeg er den jeg er” (2 Mosebok 3,14).
Da Job prøvde å forstå Guds veier, spurte Gud ham om han forsto hvordan universet ble skapt og forsetter å være til (Job 38,1-42,6)
På samme tid, åpenbarer Biblen Gud som en personlig Gud. På Sinai-fjellet, proklamerte Gud sitt navn til Moses: "Herren, Herren er en barmhjertig og nådig Gud, langmodig og rik på miskunn og sannhet! (2 Mosebok 34,6).

It is true that God is a mystery, and that we can never known him. For God is greater than anyone or anything that we can imagine. when Moses asked "who is God?" or "what is his name?" God answered, "I am who I am" (Exodus 3,14).
When Job tried to understand God's ways, God asked him if he understood how the universe was created and continued in existence (Job 38,1-42,6).
At the same time, the Bible reveals God as a personal God. On Mt. Sinai, God proclaimed his name to Moses: "The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness" (Exod 34,6 NRSV).
The Bible gives us many images of God. These help us to deepen our relationship with God.
